Women and child development minister, Maneka Gandhi today Proposed a four member committee of retired judges to be formed to conduct public hearings of all the #MeToo cases.
The committee will look into the legal and institutional framework which is in place for handling complaints of sexual harassment, and advise the ministry on the strength of these cases.
Many women are coming up with their accounts of sexual harassment on social media that they faced at work place and elsewhere. Women have started talking; their allegations should be taken seriously. The #MeToo movement has intensified in the country with more women recounting their experiences of sexual harassment in the entertainment and media industry said the minister.
